早馬神社の祭神は馬頭観音です。
この神社は、新馬場地区にありましたが、廃仏毀釈によって破棄されたものを再興し、のちに山王原公民館付近に移し、さらに現在の地に遷したものであると『三股町史 改訂版』にあります。
稲荷神社とともに、大字樺山全部が氏子で、4月29日に開催される「早馬まつり」は盛大で、以前は母智丘神社の祭りとともに都城市・北諸県における二大祭と呼ばれました。
当日はジャンカン馬踊り・太郎踊り・棒踊りなどが奉納されます。
The deity of Hayama Shrine is Bato Kannon. This Shrine was originally in the Shinbaba district, but after it was destroyed by Buddhist monks, it was restored at the Sannobaru public hall. Together with Inari Shrine, and all of Oaza Kabayama, the Hayama Festival is held on April 29 every year. With Mochio being the biggest spring festival in the Miyakonojo area, Hayama Festival is often said to be the second biggest. On the day of the festival you will be able to see the Jankan Uma, the Taro dance, and beam dancing.
